Professional Growing Information I planted 'Dipt in Wine' Coleus this year in one of my railing planters, and it was a beautiful plant. However, the branches are weak and snap off easily, even in the smallest gust of wind. The other Coleus varieties I have planted in adjacent planters (Torchlight, Wicked Witch, Lime Time, Campfire, Inferno) are not having this issue. While it is a colorful variety that I like the look of, I'm hesitant to grow 'Dipt in Wine' again due to its delicate nature.

Maintenance Notes:Many people feel that coleus look best before they flower. We have worked hard to choose coleus that bloom late in the season or not at all. To keep foliage in top shape, pinch off the blooms as they appear if you wish.
Rules of Thumb for Overwintering Plants Indoors:
1. Choose only healthy plants
2. Bring Plants indoors before frost damages foliage
3. Treat for disease and insects before bringing plants indoors
4. Place in bright areas and add humidity using pebble trays or spray bottles
5. Be careful not to over water
6 When active growth starts in spring fertilize and prune as needed
7. Introduce your plants slowly to outdoor conditions in spring
An application of fertilizer or compost on garden beds and regular fertilization of plants in pots will help ensure the best possible performance.

I grew these for the first time last year and can't say enough good things about them. Because I live in Dallas, TX, with it's very hot sun, I did find I had to water them a lot to help them thrive in the heat. In the middle of summer, I ended up watering daily to avoid afternoon wilting. However, they thrived and got HUGE. Additionally, at first, I snapped off the flower stalks when they first emerged. Later in the season, however, I noticed that bees and butterflies were constantly fluttering around the flowers, so I ended up leaving them. I would highly recommend growing these!
