    Features

Venture into the wilds of the Pacific where this unusual aroid still echoes the wild beauty of its past. Discovered among the Solomon Islands, this incredible plant has prickly stems and dark green arrowhead-shaped leaves, blushing in tones of rich ruby red. Behold the Jurassic drama of Oceana Ruby Strike. Although not technically an Alocasia, you can care for your Ruby Strike Cyrtosperma in much the same manner, by providing adequate warmth & humidity, and consistent water.

This plant is not intended for consumption.  If ingested, seek medical advice promptly:
    1.           For humans: Contact a physician or poison control center.
    2.           For pets: Consult your veterinarian or visit ASPCA.org for guidance.
    Maintenance Notes:
    • For optimal performance, keep your Cyrtosperma at 60-85°F (15-29°C). Like other tropical aroids, Cyrtospermas are sensitive to cold drafts and temperatures below 60°F (15°C).
    • Cyrtospermas perform best in bright, indirect light or filtered sunlight. Avoid placing them in direct sunlight, as it can lead to leaf scorch.  An east window is ideal, or set back a few feet from a south or west window where they can get soft, filtered light.
    • Cyrtospermas appreciate higher humidity, so break out that humidifier. They prefer humidity of 60% or higher.
    • Cyrtospermas prefer to be consistently moist, but not wet, and above all, they need to have good drainage. As such, water your Cyrtosperma thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry.
    • Feed your Cyrtosperma once per month at half strength when it is actively growing. In the winter, it may experience slower growth. If no new leaves are growing, it does not need to be fertilized.
    • Protect furniture when watering & fertilizing.
    • Cyrtospermas appreciate a chunky, well-aerated soil like other aroids. You can use an all-purpose potting mix, with additional orchid bark and perlite added to ensure your Cyrtosperma has good drainage and plenty of nutrients.
