    Maintenance Notes:

Deadheading not necessary for continuous bloom. Plants will "bury their dead" (new flowers will quickly cover old flowers) so no deadheading necessary. Bright Lights Osteospermum do not like having wet feet and will react badly to constantly wet soil. Be sure to allow soil in containers to get dry on top before watering and only plant Bright Lights in ground beds with good drainage. While it shouldn't be necessary you can trim your plants with a sharp pair of scissors or pruning shears at any time.

A yearly application of fertilizer or compost on garden beds and regular fertilization of plants in pots will help ensure the best possible performance.

    • I am from a desert climate (zone 9b) and these perform nearly year round for me in the garden. They continually bloom and have just a perfect mounding form. Even in low-light areas of winter, they still put out some blooms. I have had all the pinks and purple varieties and they are just the sweetest plants for brightening up the front areas of your garden.

    • My African Daisies are beautiful. I mixed two bright lights - pink and yellow and white.I have them planted with million bells, purple fountain grass, and blue Mohawk grass in multi colored containers. They serve as fillers for my containers. They have many blooms and continue to produce blooms when the flowers self-deadhead. I'm sad that they are annuals and am trying to figure out how to save them during the winter. I'm in zone 5.
