Professional Growing Information The blooms are huge - much bigger than my hand. I put mine in a large clay pot with premium potting soil but will transplant it soon. It’s thriving on Scott’s Miracle Gro for rose and flowers. I make sure to keep it moist since it’s so hot and humid in FL - zone 9A.

Maintenance Notes:Hibiscus love the sun and need moist, well-drained soil. Keeping these plants watered will result in larger flowers and lush foliage. Deadheading will improve the appearance of the plant, but is not necessary for continued bloom. It is best to plant Hibiscus in the garden before the heat of the summer arrives, and should be heavily mulched the first winter. In spring, cut back any remaining stems before new growth appears. Do not trim back in fall. A strong pair of loppers or a saw will be necessary to cut this plant back. Be advised that Hibiscus is always one of the last perennials to emerge in spring. Be patient, even if you think it is dead, it most likely isn't. Its vigorous growth rate more than makes up for this late start, however. Japanese beetles find these plants especially delicious.
This hardy perennial produces huge 7” wide, white, ruffled flowers with a deep red eye. The edges of the petals are edged with blush pink. Combined with the heavily overlapping petals, this creates a pinwheel effect on the flowers. Attractive, healthy leaves are bright green with slightly serrated edges. A polished, upright habit and extremely high bud count with good axillary branching ensures that this Hibiscus will have a long season of bloom, from late summer through early fall. Flowers are produced from the top to the bottom of the plant, rather than just at the top like some other cultivars. ‘Ballet Slippers’ is the perfect backdrop or centerpiece for sunny borders.

I'm sad to say that I got this plant and I was disappointed. It was so small! But because I saw other reviews that it would grow I held on to hope. Unfortunately nothing I tried t keep it alive worked. I've had it about 6 weeks and it is dead. It did not grow at all, it just kept dropping leaves and then eventually turned black. Usually all my plants do very well not sure what happed with this one.
