Prune hard to 18" in late winter, and fertilize. This variety blooms on new wood, and so should be pruned in late winter. Leave at least two pairs of buds on each stem.

    Now everyone can grow clematis!

Easy to grow and lots of flowers, that's the hallmark of Szczepan Marczynski's breeding. Pink Mink™ hits the mark head on with an abundance of bright pink-on-pink blooms from early summer to early fall.

    • I bought two Pink Mink clematis last spring for matching trellises I had secured on my fence on either side of my garden shed. I live in Zone 5b -- Denver, CO. The location is sun to part sun. I saw Laura's from Garden Answer and thought they would be perfect to grow up the trellises and then (maybe) over the top of the shed. I was very anxious to receive them and get them planted. They were a bit of a mess when I received them, but I took a lot time and caution unravelling them so they could begin their journey up their respective trellis, I fertilized and planted them. and watered them. While after one season, they are both very much alive, they have only grown about 16 inches. Not a single bloom. So, they've been a disappointment. That said, I am going to see if they survive the Colorado winter, prune them back a bit in late winter/early spring and see how they do next season. I really want them to survive and thrive. I think they will be beautiful if they bloom and grow! I'm taking the sleep, creep, leap approach and will give them three years, then I will reassess.

    • I watch Garden Answer with Laura every day and how she promotes Proven Winners. When she unpacks a shipment, they come out so beautiful, so I decided to order two clematis. I was very disappointed when I unpacked them! They were very puny and one of them was jarred loose from the pot and did not survive! The other one is barley holding on! The clematis I purchased at our local garden center were much larger for the same price, They were well supported with stakes to protect them. I feel I just threw my money away!

    • I got this for my little sister, for her birthday. Today, 7/9/20, is the one year anniversary. It is about 8 1/2' tall. Just starting to bloom. And the blooms are beautiful. I am very glad that I bought her the one gallon size. Buying that size is like getting 8-10 years worth of growth, in one year. Her deck sits up about 4' from ground level, so I knew I needed a plant 10'+. I put in 4x4x8 foot with trellis on top of the deck. It has made the 4' (deck height) and the hand rail (36") now we can see a good bit of the plant with blooms. Very Pretty! YES, I would buy this, again. In fact, I am going to buy one for ME! lol....
