Decadence^® Deluxe 'Pink Lemonade' False Indigo Baptisia hybrid

I bought this plant and another one in a different color last year. Neither one of them came back this spring. I contacted customer service since I had followed all the instructions. They said they can’t help me because I didn’t contact them within the first 30 days. How was I supposed to know in the first 30 days that the plants were going to die within the first year? I would think it was just a fluke if it had been only one, but both of them dying makes me think that this is not a hardy plant. By the way, my regular false white indigos that I grew from a $3 seed pack are doing great in the same location. Very disappointed!

I was so excited about this plant! Upon arrival I open the container to just find dirt in planting container. I had to empty the container to unearth a plant that was upside down. It had a tiny stem with about 10 leaves on it. Completely bummed on how this was packaged and shipped. There was no loose dirt in the box so I don’t think it was due to shipping.

I have three of these! This is their second year in the ground. The first year I planted them they bloomed a little but didn't grow much (baptisia form big ol taproots and don't like to be moved). This second year though? Wow! They went from maybe 1.5 feet tall to like 4 feet tall and wide with beautiful pink and yellow blooms! They get full sun and no extra water after the first year. These do NOT like to be wet. They will rot and fall over and die. Their taproot allows them to handle drought well once established. Their pea-like foliage is very beautiful even when there are no blooms. The seed pods are pretty cool though I do cut mine off. Overall a great full sun, drought tolerant plant!

An outstanding plant. I love false indigo. Does great as a spring pop of color for several weeks here in Missouri and then is a great foundation in the border the rest of the summer with those cool seed pods. Give them plenty of room.
